Privacy Policy
Your recordings stay under your control.
VoIPVault is a local-first Windows application for capturing, editing, organizing, and playing audio.
Short version: VoIPVault does not upload your recordings, operate an advertising network, or include analytics or behavioral tracking. Recordings and application settings are stored on your computer.
Information VoIPVault Processes Locally
VoIPVault processes the information needed to provide its features on your Windows computer. This may include:
- Audio from the microphone, application, system, mixer, or loopback sources that you select.
- Recordings, clips, editable-track data, and optional diagnostic tracks that you choose to save.
- Application preferences, selected audio devices, hotkeys, soundboard layouts, file locations, and Stream Deck integration settings.
- Basic file information such as names, formats, sizes, durations, and modification dates for recordings in folders you select.
This information is used locally to operate VoIPVault. VoIPVault does not send these recordings or settings to the developer.
Rolling Audio Buffer
While recording is active, VoIPVault maintains a rolling audio history so you can save audio after it happens. Audio is written to the recordings directory when you choose to save it. Temporary audio and editable-track files may also be created locally as part of recording and editing.
Network Communication
VoIPVault provides a local integration service for features such as the Elgato Stream Deck plugin. This service binds to the local loopback address (127.0.0.1) and is intended for communication between applications running on the same computer.
The current application does not include developer-operated cloud storage, telemetry, crash reporting, advertising, or analytics services.
Third-Party Services and Software
VoIPVault may be distributed through Steam and may optionally work with third-party products such as Elgato Stream Deck, Wave Link, external audio editors, or virtual audio routing software. Those products are provided by their respective companies and are governed by their own terms and privacy policies.
Steam account, purchase, payment, and platform data is processed by Valve rather than by VoIPVault. See the Steam Privacy Policy.
Data Sharing and Sale
VoIPVault does not sell personal information. VoIPVault does not share recordings or application settings with the developer or with advertisers. Files may be accessed by other software only when you choose to open, route, copy, synchronize, or otherwise use those files with that software.
Your Choices and Data Deletion
You control where recordings are saved and may rename or delete them through VoIPVault or Windows File Explorer. You may also remove application settings and soundboard configuration from your computer. Files copied to backups, cloud-synchronized folders, removable media, or third-party applications must be managed separately through those services.
Recording Consent and Legal Responsibility
Audio recording laws and platform rules vary by location and situation. You are responsible for obtaining any consent required before recording, storing, editing, sharing, or playing another person's voice or other protected audio.
Security
VoIPVault is designed to keep its application data local, but no storage method is completely secure. Anyone with access to your Windows account, recordings folder, backups, or connected software may be able to access your files. Use appropriate Windows account security and file permissions for sensitive recordings.
Children's Privacy
VoIPVault does not knowingly collect personal information from children. Because VoIPVault does not operate an account service or collect recordings from users, it does not maintain a developer-controlled database of children's information.
Changes to This Policy
This policy may be updated when VoIPVault's features or data practices change. The effective date and last-updated date at the top of this page will identify the current version.
